Behind Closed Doors, Maine

March 18th, 2020. It had been almost one week since a national emergency was declared in the United States because of Covid-19 and I could no longer sit idly by.

My work as a photographer has always been about human connection and for the foreseeable future; we as a global society were halted from doing this. “Behind Closed Doors” evolved from my devotion to a community of people who were suffering and the importance of bearing witness to those faces and the overwhelming weight of having to shutter their lives work. From ‘behind closed doors’ I reflected the fear, uncertainty, vulnerability and connection of a small community in Portland, Maine.
